A Poem : Exposed

Shell cracked,
innards exposed.

Nothing but the rich yolk of life left to run.

At first glance,
a waste.
A shame.

You stare at the damage and think:

“That could’ve been something.”

Then you step back.

The yolk finds a pan.

Ingredients are added.

Suddenly the total becomes greater than its parts.

The fire performs its quiet alchemy.

Heat transforms.

What once looked broken becomes nourishment.

The egg that spent its life protected by its shell…

…is finally free.

What felt like destruction becomes transformation.

Fear becomes love.

Anxiety becomes anticipation.

Regret becomes gratitude.

Sometimes our souls collide with another’s.

Not only to give us beautiful moments…

…but to break us open.

It is inside the collision.

The chaos.

The mess.

Where something beautiful is made.

When the dust settles and your eyes adjust,

what looked like disorder

reveals itself

as art.

Thank you…

for the mess you made.
